What to expect in a session
Initial Evaluation
Once you have been scheduled for an office visit or tele-consult you will be provided with the initial paper work. Please fill it out in detail; included are questions about your health history, previous medical diagnosis, supplements, medications, diet, emotions, and health goals. This information gives me the “big picture” about the state of your health from an Eastern and Western perspective. Together we will go over your information and I will answer any questions you may have.
Treatment
After the intake, the treatment begins. Healing sessions include acupuncture and typically one or more adjunct healing tools that are beneficial for your specific condition. Expect to spend 40-45 minutes alone in deep relaxation, a bell will be provided in case you need to call your practitioner.
Treatement Plan
You will be given a plan outlining the number and frequency of clinic visits recommended to optimize your health. Most plans include suggestions for supplements, herbs, diet and labs. Tele-consult patients will be provided a PDF of recommendations, a follow-up call will be scheduled to address any questions.

Acupuncture is generally not painful.
Acupuncture needles are extremely thin—much finer than hypodermic needles used for injections. Most people feel little to no pain when the needles are inserted. Sensations are often described as warmth, heaviness, tingling, or a dull ache, which indicates the body is responding to treatment. Many patients find acupuncture deeply relaxing and even fall asleep during sessions. -
Yes—acupuncture is safe and evidence-based when performed by a licensed practitioner.
Licensed acupuncturists use sterile, single-use needles and are extensively trained in anatomy, safety, and clinical care. Research supports acupuncture’s effectiveness for pain, stress reduction, fertility support, and nervous system regulation. Many patients use acupuncture alongside conventional medical care for comprehensive, integrative support. -
Many fertility clinics in San Diego regularly refer patients for acupuncture support.
Acupuncture is often recommended to help reduce stress, improve circulation, and support overall treatment outcomes during IVF, IUI, and FET cycles. We work collaboratively with your fertility clinic to support you through your journey and will provide acupuncture for your FET upon request. -
Start by scheduling an appointment on our website (Frozen Embryo Transfer-Acupuncture at your IVF clinic). Choose the appointment closest to the date and time of your scheduled embryo transfer.
Once your appointment is booked, please call Life Spark Acupuncture directly and provide the name of your IVF clinic. This allows our team to coordinate timing, logistics, and any clinic-specific protocols to best support your FET. -
If you are needles sensitive or have a fear of needles please let us know. We can use a gentler needle or use a different tool to activate the acupuncture point if needed. Acupuncture points can be activated with Shonishin tools, tuning forks, ear seeds, Dolphin MPS Therapy, cupping, and acupressure.
